The main aim of the School Council is to help to make our school a better place for the children and to give us an opportunity to have our opinions and ideas heard. Each class from Year 2 upwards has two representatives who are elected every year.
At the first meeting of the year the important roles and jobs are selected and all the teachers help to conduct the meetings on a rota system.
The class representatives tell the children in their classes what has been discussed at each meeting and the children can ask the representatives to take forward their ideas to the next meeting. A main task for our school council is to raise funds for our selected school charity. In 2019 we raised £445 for 'Pendle Dogs in Need'. In 2020 we raised money for PSC support, a liver charity with close ties to a member of staff who has had a liver transplant.
This year, our school council will consult with their classes about how our school can be improved. They will work with each class as they support their class charity and find ways to help our pupils become courageous advocates.
Everybody gets a fair say in the meeting and nobody gets left out.
Our school council members this year are:
Year 2: Alexia Davidson-Cronin; Jacob Cheetham
Year 5: Natalie Barnabas; Dylan Bowen
Year 6: Gabriella Dale; Lewis Burt
