British Values and Prevent
The DfE have recently reinforced the need to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of:
- the rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect and
- tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
At Barrowford St Thomas’ CE Primary school we believe that everybody is loved by God and that we should demonstrate that love one to another, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, beliefs, appearance or financial status.
We oppose prejudice or intolerance of any kind and this is reflected in our practice, policies and procedures.
We ensure that our pupils understand that while people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
We cover these values through our curriculum; through visits and visitors and with dedicated PSHE lessons targeting key learning objectives.
